  1. Bands we love!

Has anyone heard any of Sia's music before? I just love her! I like such a wide range of music, anything from classical to hard rock, but Sia is my preference for soothing, mellow music I also, LOVE, Sade! As far as rock, I'm really hung up on this Christian band, Kutless and love Linkin Park, Nickelback. What are some of your favorite bands? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy5fGpEPA-4
  2. Hey Shelley120861...this is Nick

Hi! I sent the pics (2?) the last time we talked did you not get them?
  3. Great meeting you, Michael!

I just wanted to say thanks to Michael for stopping by today and buying some things It was really nice to have been able to meet you. You know when someone drives an hour and a half in this crazy weather, they're a hard core saltwater junkie! I also wanted to thank everyone we've had the opportunity of meeting throughout our short journey here. I will really miss my tanks, but most of all, all of you. I don't know if it will be appropriate for me to continue to post here being that I'm selling everything, so I hope if it's not, that you all will keep in touch! My personal cell is (337) 652-1966. Now, leave me alone....I'm going to DESTIN! LOL! JOKING! Not leaving till Monday, but Monday July 16th through 21st I'm "outta here" for girls vacation! I'm going to swim in the BIG saltwater tank! LOL! Only have 2 pieces of coral left guys! And 3 fish! Come get them!
  4. Great meeting you, Michael!

Hahaha! Thanks! It looks like we're going to get rain Will do on the fishy!
  5. First let me start off by saying I am not 100% positive what model this skimmer is, but I do know it is a Reef Octopus. I was told this was a $1200 skimmer new and have no idea of the age, but should not be more than a few years old. I am thinking it may be an older model "Hurricane". I have been using it on my 150 for 3 months and it works awesome. It has an Octopus Turbine pump attached that will come with the skimmer. It was sold to me as "rated for 400 gph". The skimmer is currently running in my tank, so providing measurements is virtually impossible, but I'll give it my best shot! I'm sure someone who has seen my tank (from this board) may be able to help out. I do have more photos of same on my phone and will be happy to text to you. Just shoot me a text asking for same, (337) 652-1966. Please, text me as I am not checking the board often these days ASKING - $75 IF INTERESTED PLEASE CALL OR TEXT ME AS I DON'T CHECK THE BOARD OFTEN! (337) 652-1966 Skimmer is mounted on black acrylic base, approximately 29" long. The cylinder is approximately 32" high and is 25" in circumference. It has red adjustment handles on it. The skimmer has grey and red parts on it. If there are any questions you have regarding this skimmer, just text me. I can say that Bobby, Cody (Ark) and Michael (StangGT66) has seen it recently and know more about it than I do! LOL! Maybe they will lend me a hand here? Thanks, guys! **I will attempt to clean the best I am able, but I just had surgery and cannot lift anything and the use of my arms is limited
  6. That's one thing that used to upset me so bad. When I was selling, the most color enhancing I ever used was lightening of a pic. No other color enhancement at all. But I'm sure it hurt us in sales as our coral was not as "bright" as they were in other pics But, I didn't want to mislead anyone. Personally, I feel that it's just a gross misrepresentation of a coral. Just saying!
  7. Approximately 4 years old? Not used often until past couple of months. Has a TDS meter attached (purchased separately) but the switch will not move to show TDS input, only output. This is not a biggie as output is what one needs to be most concerned with. The brand is Aqua FX. 4 Stage Barracuda RO/DI unit with TDS meter (see above) - $75 firm (Paid $225 new) - Filters will need to be changed again in the near future. In perfect condition, no problems other than above mentioned (TDS meter). Believe rated for 50 gpd. Have owner's/instruction manual. Very easy to operate/use. Don't have pics, camera on the blink. Can text photos. ALSO: Have a set of replacement filters for unit for an extra $15- Purchased recently from Bulk Reef Supply for $21.99 plus shipping. Please call for into. Please text me at (337) 652-1966 if interested. Please do not send me an email here. I have not been checking my messages that often. Thanks!

  9. Ark's 250g

Cody, your tank is gorgeous! Absolutely stunning! How's my little fish doing? Did you name him yet? LOL! I just love the Flame Hawks. They are full of personality! Told ya you would like him! Nick, Cody has seen my tank Cody's my "buddy" and stops by to see me and help me on a regular basis! LOL! Poor Cody! Anyway, everything is up, running and waiting on ya! I'll see you and Cody on Sunday
  10. Yep, some Chalice can be quite "pricey"! Not saying it's not "bright" in color, but looks like there's quite a bit of color enhancing going on there! How about this one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cornbreds-Fuego-Chalice-LIVE-CORAL-/110909856485?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19d2be1ae5
  11. Greg is "DA BOMB"! :)

Just wanted to again compliment Greg on the awesome work he's done with this board. The July 4th theme is soooo awesome! I know this takes lots of time and want Greg to know how much we appreciate all he does, and if anyone else is helping with the board design and I've left them out, kudos to you guys as well! I don't know much about running a message board, but I know it takes time and dedication. Thanks to Greg and the others for making this board for us to enjoy!

  16. Let "The News" continue

Welcome, Nick! So excited for you! Can't wait to meet you! I like bikes, too Never drove one, but almost bought a GSXR in 2000 (?) Not a good bike for a radical female! LOL! Bought jet skis instead! I'm too dangerous to have a bike!
  17. hello, new member here from lafayette, la

Looking good! And WELCOME! This is a great board with many very knowledgable members! What Kirk said...My vote is black I have always preferred the black over the blue anytime! Guess it's just whatever you prefer, but I see many leaning more towards the black nowdays. Such a great contrast against the white sand. I guess black is the new pink!
  18. Sadistic Rhodactis!

I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own two eyes, but my friend Cody from LARC came over yesterday and shot this pic of my Superman Rhodactis with my starfish leg in it's mouth. Was he eating it? It also stung him and left whelps? I didn't know these things were capable of stinging? I've touched I can't tell you how many Rhodactis and have never been stung. This one has white stringy things that come out of the mouth when aggravated. I've also never seen that before! I must say Cody got a kick out of this! LOL! And yes, they're for sale
  19. Sadistic Rhodactis!

Oh, cool! I didn't know that! The above mushroom was actually about 3" by 3" as were most on the colony. There were some smaller babies under the bigger ones. Some of the biggest rhodactis I've seen!
  20. Sadistic Rhodactis!

Well, I sold the sadistic rhodactis colony today! It will be missed Probably one of the prettiest coral colonies I had left
  21. Sadistic Rhodactis!

Wow, thanks for the info, Tobias! Didn't know that! Kirk, you know I'm not sure? I just assumed it was my sand sifter star as the leg was quite large. I haven't seen an Asterina that large, but that's not to say they don't get that large! Now that I'm thinking about it, I'll bet it was an Asterina! I just never realized they would eat them!
  22. How about this for some news?

Just wanted to share something with you all. Most of you are aware of my ongoing medical issues. Well, the other day I had a Liver Ultrasound and guess what? The Hep C and Cirrohis have improved??! That's a miracle considering I continued to drink, drug and abuse my body after I was diagnosed in 1999. Honestly, this is nothing short of a miracle, and I'll tell you why.... In 1999 was diagnosed with the above. Kept drinking / drugging. Anyone who knows anything about these diseases knows they are caused by the abuse of drugs and alcohol and do not get BETTER when one continues to abuse themselves. In 2005 became very ill with Cirrohis / Hep C, and started Interferon Treatments. Had to stop after 3 weeks as they almost killed me. No way 3 weeks of treatment could have helped. I've been told that by more than 1 doctor. In 2005 I was told by 2 doctors that I would not live more than 5 years, max. (Haha, 7 years later!) June 2012 - Ultrasound shows above improved? How can that be? Nothing short of a miracle. Now, I know this is not the time and place to discuss this, but I'm going to bring up a touchy subject anyway and I hope not to offend anyone. I'm not trying to push anything on anyone and I hope no one takes this that way. Just sharing some more of my story with you all. For many years, I believed in God, but didn't trust Him. I even questioned everything that happened in the world. Why this, why that? Why do bad things happen to good people? Well, I found I was mad at God for many reasons. Anyway, long story short....I have seen miracles in my sister's life. In my life. The above is a miracle to me. I should be dead. I cannot tell you how many times I have overdosed on drugs an alcohol. Rushed to the hospital 3 times last week with blood pressure in the low 60's over low 30's. Am I mad? Heck no. I'm a living testimony. Do I believe in God today? Uh huh. Because I've seen His work in my life. Do I judge others who don't? Nope. Not my job. And I've been there done that so who would I be to judge another? I have some friends who don't believe in God. That's ok. They believe in something higher than us, they're just not sure. Now, I'm not a Bible Thumping Christian that you will ever catch on Bourbon Street waiving a Bible in the air, but if my God wants to change me into that someday (please, God...I don't wanna go there!), then so be it. Today I try to find gratitude in all I do. In every "bad" situation I face, because there's always someone worse off. Have I always been this way? Heck no! I used to be the most selfish person in the world. All I knew how to do was take. Lord knows I could list a pages about my ego, selfishness, etc. The difference today is I strive to be better. Sure, I slip up and sometimes fall back into the above and so many more things, but I'm sober today and I keep trying. Like AA tells us. Progress, not perfection! Man, what freedom it brings to know I don't have to try to be perfect anymore when I tried for so many years! And boy did it exhaust me! Today I am thankful for so many things. Small things. I'm thankful that I woke up this morning. Some didn't. I'm thankful that I have my arms and legs, some don't. It's all about attitude! Anyway, I don't know what prompted me to write that. Maybe someone needed to hear that today? Anyway, I just wanted to share a few of "my miracles" with you guys. And I'll share many I've seen in others lives with you all one day. Hey, Greg! Wanna start a message board for me? LOL! Maybe we could call it something like, "The Feel Good Board"! LOL! Love you guys!
  23. How about this for some news?

Aww, thanks, Nick! You're great to talk to as well! I'm so glad you're enjoying the board and your "research"! Trust me, Shayne is right. It will pay off! Good luck with everything and I look forward to meeting you on Sunday the 15th!

  25. How about this for some news?

Wow, Pastey! That is so awesome! And I am glad of your feelings towards believers. We need more open minds as yours in this world! Thanks for sharing this with me and tell your girlfriend if she ever wants to talk she can find me on Facebook under Brigette Hippchen Travasos (without the smile)! LOL! Or, if anyone wants to add me, feel free! That being said...I am trying to make a Facebook site for the support group I've decided to start. The name is showing up under my own name when I am wanting the title to show. Maybe something like Freedom from Addictions and Afflictions for example? Can anyone walk me through how to make this change? I would greatly appreciate it!
