my name is jerrod buffington.. i have been an autotech for the past 12 years, career wise i really want to turn my hobby into my career.. i have some freinds who have tanks that i clean and maintenance here and there, i dont have a realy business per say but really trying to build clientel, anyway beside the point a little just want to fill in on where i am in the hobby..
i started with a 10 gallon with a hangonback filter, and a regular light.. added a skimmer, the oceanic biocube skimmer.. and this was the extent to my hobby for the first year.. no live rock just ornaments...
then i went to a 46 bowfront, this was my first tank with live rock.. lost it to hair algae.. this is where i learned about nitrates, phohsphates etc...
started ove again 6 months into this tank in a 55.. this tank was my first full reef.. i ran this tank problem free for 6 months with only a protien skimmer and diy leds... i changed 13-15 gallons of water a week... i had no nuisance algae here at all.. then i went to a 125 when i moved into our first home.. just as soon as this tank get settled it cracked... alot of thought and work went into this tank and it didnt settly in right on the stand and cracked the front glass.. save most everything.. and immediatly had another 125 setting there... it sucked.. the overflows were different.. i hated it.. i got a chance to trade out with a freind..
my current setup is a 120 48 by 24.5 by 24.5 its an oceanic with no braces.. furniture quality stand and canopy.. i have two radions running it, also have two mp40s... it has a 30 gallon sump with a tunze skimmer, no refugium.. the return is a mag 18, its a little strong but i plan to add some more return nozzles and make it not so strong.. maybe a spraybar.. i have a phosban gfo reactor and a brs carbon reactor. i have a jbj chiller.. i just got my reef angel tonite with wifi and rf modules i just gotta figure out how to get it running.. i will get some pics in the showroom..
this is me...
