My review:  Obviously the best place on the internet for any saltwater enthusiast! I have seen a lot of thank you threads about BRK lately, and, I LOVE me some BRK. It has become my homepage at work and home. A free forum, with no bashing or name calling, an active membership base and still with a huge resource of experience and knowledge is very difficult to find on it's own. But add to that, active meets that people actually attend, raffles/giveaways for supporting (cheap,) and a true MASNA reef club. BRK is the boobies.

In the spirit of continuing growth here, I have some requests.

Can we get supporting member suggestion/discussion boards.
Can we get a reef chemistry forum?
Can we get a google calendar link for the calendar.

Thanks again to all the BRK staff for working so hard on keeping fresh content, updates, and events going. This reef club is going to be huge.

What would be the purpose of such a private discussion board? Would it contain valuable and useful information? If so, then wouldn't that take away form information that would otherwise be available to all who visit the site? Personally I am not for privatizing any information as it is all invaluable to newcomers who come here for information.

A suggestions forum, however, would be more than appropriate and who better than those who support the club to help us out with developing the club via such a forum!?

Elaborate please. Why not use the calendar we have? Also, are you volunteering to manage the calendar? :D

Why not is the better question.  I am totally for it.  The discussion in the private reef classifieds the last few days, in which the user asked for advice from actual membership is a prime example.  Other forums which have tiered memberships have it, so, why not.

...I play with water and electricity...

I gave my reason as to why not.

The purpose of the private discussion board would be to settle disputes, carry on useless non aquarium related banter, and to further enrich the site for members. Most of the supporters are also the ones that are most likely to have met in real life and there are questions and comments that many would feel more comfortable with sharing with people they have met or at least are committed to the same organization. And from a marketing standpoint, it gives extra incentive to throw in the menial amount of $$. For instance. Say I'm going out of town for a weekend and need a tank buddy. I'm not comfortable posting about my vacant home on the world wide web, but for the paying members, I trust that I could find help and not leave myself nearly as exposed. Or my garf frag thread, I would much rather that have stayed with our supporting members.

As far as chemistry. I guess I just am arguing semantics. Dosing and testing doesn't necessarily cover ph problems, phosphate control, bacterial threads, etc.

And, sure. I'll manage the google calendar. I like it because it syncs across all devices easily and shows up in real time when something is added.

That seems like a reasonable set of usage criteria for such a forum.

For the chemistry, I imagine tweaking the name and description of the existing one highlighted would work? Want to take a stab at that?

For the calendar, we barely manage what's on the site here. And I would not really want to link to something that is off the site. Sounds like you are just used to using Google apps for work, etc.?

I like the idea of the events showing up on my iPhone as well.  I also use a gmail exchange account for calendar and contact sync.

There is no option within the framework of the software to sync the calendar under the More tab to something external such as Google Calendar. However, Grim is welcome to duplicate it all to Google calendar for you calendar junkies. :D

Greg, Please check out Facebook; I believe if we all become friend with BRK in Facebook, all the event would show up once we open FB and click on events. In my opinion, might be the easier thing for us, before make this web site as a full time job without pay. lol

BRk does have a facebook page. They sometimes post important dates on FB, but with FB selecting what gets displayed in your feed I find just logging on the site the best way to stay connected and up to date.

When I click on this link, it takes me to my own Google calendar. Not sure why. If I had the name of the BRK calendar, I think I could add it, right?

I will play with as soon as I am on an actual computer. Make sure it is public
